DPP 4-2012 Over-the-counter meds

Walking through the pharmacy, now which one of these vitamins should I choose? Trying my best to avoid the doctor this Christmas!

DPP 3-2012 Treetop

Outside Springburn residence, suddenly looked up and this giant tree profile fascinated me. It was such a tall majestic tree on the sidewalk by itself rising past the electrical cables, I couldn’t fit all of it in the pic.

DPP 2-2012 Hilltop

A short drive up the hill nearby and I know, hard to believe eh, but this is typical autumn on the island. Wild green grass, lush foliage overlooking the blue mountain tops, and a vast expanse of terrain in the distance. Spectacular at night.

DPP 1-2012 Balcony view

Early morning view from my balcony in the grove, breathtaking with all the greenery, showers in the night, trees seemingly touching the sky, and empty parking spaces of neighbours who made it out bright and early before the rest of us!

December Photo Project 2012

Decided to sign on for this project. Just what I need, a photo a day to keep work pressures at bay! The funny thing is I don’t have a camera but I figured I could get creative with my trusty old Blackberry Pearl. Hope you enjoy my selections throughout the month. December Photo Project 2012

Cliffhangers

Trying to make sense of the new combination of words being thrown around these days as a part of political and social commentaries. Don’t know how I would keep up with being in the know if I was not able to Google stuff. But somehow if I may use the proverbial “we”, apparently it seems that we are progressing or marching towards a “fiscal cliff”. There are actions that can be taken to fix or avert the cliff otherwise we risk going over or taking a cliff dive. So, the problem is that we can’t agree on proposals to avoid the fiscal cliff as we are “divided” on this issue! Now divided is the next buzz word that’s being used as an excuse for inactivity. It's really a moot point since isn't that what politics is all about, either one party wins or the other, some will be for and some against. Does this mean that as long as there is division nothing gets done? So what will it take to unify a nation that will always be divided? Anyways, while the authorities grapple with whether the solution is tax cuts or spending cuts, retailers could care less as they have no intention of cutting back their efforts at pushing forward with their annual event, “Black Friday”. In anticipation of increased spending, retailers wish to prolong the drama and are keeping consumers on edge too by leaking deals and proposing an early start so early that we may actually see other Black days materialize or a Black Friday week!

Worth the wait

Waiting has got to be the worst feeling ever. A huge relief follows though when whatever you were waiting on happens and you realize all the waiting has not been in vain. But why should we have to wait? And what if it suddenly dawns on you that you have literally been waiting forever? Whether it be waiting on a ride, waiting on a promotion, waiting to be paid, waiting on kids to grow up, waiting on someone you love, the wait itself is dreadful. Bob Marley originally sang, “I don’t want to wait in vain for your love.” Like he said, for three years he knocked on his lady love’s door yet he was willing to wait through the seasons on his turn provided he knew if it was feasible for him to knock some more! Even the Psalms imply that you must be encouraged while you wait. And it is the scriptures too that tell us that “love is never tired of waiting.” Oh well, speak for yourself, so tell me, what are you still waiting for? Is it worth the wait?

Can't catch a break!

I am trying really hard to figure out why I just can’t catch a break! The weirdest part is that I don’t consider myself to be all that energetic but nonetheless I have been going at it nonstop and rolling with the punches. When I do get a moment I analyze it to bits to determine why it took so long for me to get this little break and before you know it something else happens that require my attention and my little break is all over. What is going on with the time, is it my imagination or is the clock spinning too fast? Since my last post, here I am now only catching a break long enough to realize Easter has passed. Crazy! We should be having some events and activities lined up for JA 50. Next thing I hear the budget was ambitious (in the billions) and is to be reworked (in the millions). While that’s being sorted out you would think that by now 4 months into the year they would have gotten something started out of the projected millions or billions but no, I guess I can’t catch a break long enough to hear of anything going on yet. Surely they don’t plan to spend the money in celebrations on the one day! Bwoy just sitting here in limbo, something good should be happening already. Gee whiz when will they get it right, 2030 as envisioned or another count of 50? Sigh! Listen as Busy Signal sings, “Don’t give up, don’t give up”…. Jamaica Love, we want to feel Jamaica Love.

Love always

Valentine’s Day draws near. Love is in the air and to each his own. If somebody loves you, will they always love you? I believe if it’s true love, yes. And just like the sea, it can lie still and dormant; it can come in gentle waves, it can rock you or it can rage and scare the living daylights out of you but in the end it’s still there. And if you are in love it’s exciting, there’s no time to stop and ask why, you just drift with the ebb and flow and marvel where it takes you and for how long it lasts. Forget logic or reason for there is no explanation and even though it's mind blowing or boggling you can actually maintain your sanity by sharing and being open with your thoughts, your heart, with the one you love. Oh dear, didn’t mean to wax poetic and trust me I can go deeper, but then again like I said to each his own!

Happy Valentine’s Day. This one's for you...

Tablet Talk

So today I called this new computer store Tech Pro. I told the operator who answered that I was interested in a small Tablet and she told me that they were not a pharmacy but a technology store. LOL. Well you know I had to set her straight, so I said if you are in the tech business, you should know what Tablet I am referring to and she said sorry and put me on to Sales. So I asked the young man who answered whether they had any Tablets and he immediately said no. But I insisted and said, “Are you sure you don't have any 7" or 10" Tablets, that you listed online” and he said, “Oh you mean an E-reader,” and I said, “No not just an e-reader but a full-fledged Tablet PC,” and he mentioned that he had a View Sonic and put me on hold to check and never came back! So you know I just had to call back to tell them a thing or two about customer service and to try to help them stay in business. The same operator answered and put me on to Sales again and this time a lady answered and she also put me on hold to check with the technician! After a while I redialled and the operator answered and told me I had gotten cut off and she would put me back to Sales. Huh! The sales lady came back on to tell me she had 3 items and in the background I am hearing her call out to ‘Raheem’ presumably the technician asking whether the Dell Mini, Asus, and Blackberry Playbook were 7” Tablets! LMAO. So I thanked her and asked what time the showroom closes, but really thinking to myself that pretty soon their doors may remain closed for good if they don’t get their act together. But then I had a rethink and realized that in today’s world, these ingredients, that is, a feisty operator, sales people lacking knowledge of products they sell, a brick and mortar coupled with an online presence, may actually result in a very successful business. And chances were that one of the four I talked to was the CEO on his or her merry way to making millions. This is a true story.
