First Ukulele Cover

Teaching myself to play an instrument and sing at the same time! No mean feat but having great fun learning nonetheless. So I recorded my efforts at being an 'undercover musician'. Okay, first things first, it's not perfect and I want to make sure that you know that I know that. One take as is, raw, tone, tune, background noise, it is what it is! Now that we have cleared that up, I love this song "Say Something" by A Great Big World. A little pensive but sometimes it is really necessary to say something or do something before nothing else can be said or done. So I chose it for my first cover to track the progress made after 1 month of learning to play the ukelele on my own. Click here for the video link and over here for audio only. Musically inclined

So excited. Ordered myself a Ukulele and the package is here. But first let me tell you about my mini collection and how I got to this stage! Started at a young age with a melodica which I still have along with two other instruments at home, a guitar and a keyboard. Also, if you have been reading this blog, I write lyrics and recorded my first bedroom single this year and working on another. So as you can see I always have been a fan of music and fancy that I must have been a musician in a former life. Ha Ha. Well that’s only half of the story. The other half is that I am not in no stretch of the imagination a professional player of either of these instruments. My skills are really mediocre somewhere near level two, can’t play by ear nor memory, and I need to read from the sheet music at all times!
So why did I buy a Uke? Believe it or not, only found out about this instrument when reading a Tracy Chapman biography recently and saw where her mom bought her a ukulele at the age of three. Googled and became consumed with the information and its history and decided to get one for myself. And now my package is here. Stay tuned!

My first single!

Breaking new ground with the production of my new single. I am totally enjoying this experience of learning and listening to all types of audio and sounds. Always use to enjoy music but now from a different angle. Gaining a little more knowledge in graphics and video production as well to complement my creative drive.

I would recommend this outlet for anyone feeling a little bit pressured after a hard day's work. Who would have thought that pressure would indeed turn out to be the inspiration for my first song! C'est la vie! Hope you listen to and like my 3rd track '(Ah Sah) Pressure'. In case you are wondering, I did the album cover too. Was trying my best to look 'pressured' in the pic to match the song title but ended up smiling! Ha Ha can't stay down for too long, got to rise and move on.

My First Track

So I have been thinking! This blog is about talking to Ms. King but there is no audio. I have solved that problem by becoming a spoken word artist and releasing my first track, yes you heard me right the first time, lol. Working on some others so hope you like it. My second track Earth Strong was actually in my last post if you missed it. I did these two clips in a single take using just voice recorder on my cellphone and hope to upgrade my audio skills/equipment as I go along. Staying connected

Happy New Year! Waiting on me to publish a new post? Well truth is I’ve been exploring creative activities on other levels and my blogging activity has somehow been on the backburner. Renovating, designing, keyboarding, and upping the ante on my tech skills are a just a few of the things I’ve been dabbling with. There is never enough time to do all that we want but social media pressures constantly drive the need for us to power on. So even when we are on break, it is hard to resist not making that connection to say hello world!
